This book gives you a clear, well-documented insight into the history and development of gospel music in the UK. Steve Smith makes the story come alive with interesting anecdotes and the book turns out to be a bedrock of information on the importance of this music in the daily lives of so many Brtish citizens. Before reading it, I was convinced that gospel music was a truly American "thing". Steve Smith sets the record straight and shows how the music has influenced so many other musicians too. The CD is a gem; here we have virtual unknowns gracing us with wonderful lyrics and melodies. Ans what a good idea to include it, as it lends sense to the reading and complements the book wonderfully well. Well done to the author!
