Meeting Sam the Wheels

In the 198 gallery Sam had a brief talk with us about how he used his camera and how he hid his camera away from thieves while getting a focused steady shot. This really gave me insight into how things have changed since then as now you see people holding camera's and filming equipment in the street without any fear. In our talk he also told us a story about an inexperienced camera man who was employed to film a wedding. As he didn't have a camera he borrowed one from a friend and filmed the wedding but when he gave the camera back to his friend and asked him to take the film out he realised that it didn't have any film inside it. In the end he told us that no one is an expert at first us just have to practise to make perfect.

I recently met Sam The

I recently met Sam The Wheels, and it was an interesting experience to have. He had a brief conversation with us explaining how he began filming and the important rules to keep in mind when filming. He also told of how he filmed the aftermath of the Brixton riots as well as an incident that occured at his friends wedding where an unexperienced man filmed the wedding without a tape. This proved to me that operating a camera is not all easy work but to be a great camera operator you must be experienced and dedicated to your work!
