Volunteer group (friends of the project)
What we aim to do
To involve members of the local community in researching and documenting Sam's film footage. We are looking at a time period covering the 1960s, 70s & 80s and aim to encourage people to both explore and contribute to an archive of materials produced throughout the life of the project, which artists and other members of the project will also be contributing to. The group will record oral histories, collect images and text, upload content to the website and open up dialogue with the artists.
The group
Diverse members of the community encompassing a wide range of ages & cultures. It would be desirable for some members of the group (2 or 3) to have some experience of media production (video, photography, web, graphics, written word), or a strong desire to learn some of these skills so they can support those that are more technically challenged.
Activities
- Review films & create a library of video clips organised by theme.
- Identify people to interview for oral histories or be involved.
- Research the background to film footage & oral histories.
- Upload video clips, images and written text to the project website.
- Workshops (Recording oral histories) to learn new skills.
- Introduce artists at end of 6 weeks so they can lead their workshops - inform artists.
